Squadron supports Armed Forces Day in Wellingborough

Cadets and volunteer staff from 378 (Mannock) Squadron were out in force today to support their home town’s Armed Forces Day events.

The national day of celebrations is a chance for the public to show their support for the Armed Forces community, and in the town of Wellingborough there is never a shortage of local people lending support.

The Squadron, alongside other local youth groups and the town’s branch of the Royal British Legion, took part in opening and sunset ceremonies, as well as a parade through the streets.

The cadets were supported by members of the Squadron’s Civilian Committee, who ran a cake stall with which they managed to raise over £180 for the unit’s welfare fund and for SSAFA – the Armed Forces charity.

Michael Hackett, the Squadron’s Civilian Committee Chairman, said: “Thank you to the generosity of the public’s donations, to everyone who helped in the setup and baking of the delicious cakes, staff and cadets, and to Colemans of Wellingborough.”
